PROJECT: Flood Funds
In February 2019, Townsville faced a major flood. it was a unprecedented disaster for the community. It is predicted that insurance claims will reach over $100 million, over 2000 homes were inundated with water. Families are struggling to come to grip with this unexpected difficult time.
At this time, teams of people have been helping with the cleanup. We have also been delivering food to those affected. We will continue to help families and individuals who are at a loss from this natural disaster. Financial aid is offered where possible.
Townsville City Care is committed to helping people facing the ongoing trauma from this catastrophe. As part of our services we are looking to provide grief counselling and peer-support during this time.
We also acknowledge the incredible work of all community and government organisations.
